St. Charles School has a tradition of creating professional Spring Musicals under the direction of Mr. Jeremy Samudio. In 2009 and 2010 our musicals won the Music Theater International Award, celebrating our performance as one of the best Jr. High musicals in the country! This award also recognized us as a Broadway Junior School of Excellence!
In addition to students attending weekly music and art classes, there are several other opportunities for students to get involved in fine arts at St. Charles School.
Elementary Choir—This choir is composed of students from grades two through four. It is designed to be a training choir, in which students learn vocal technique and performance practices. The choir performs two concerts a year—typically a Christmas musical and a spring concert.
Show Choir—Students in grades five through eight can audition for this choir. This group performs music ranging from Broadway classics, to jazz standards, to pop hits. The Show Choir travels with a live band and performs year-round. Every summer St. Charles School hosts Show Choir camp to prepare for another exciting year of performing.
Spring Musical—Each year our talented St. Charles School singers, dancers and actors perform a spring musical. It always features a full stage set, complete with costumes, theatrical lights and professional sound. The 2021 Musical will be……
Fine Arts Society—This is a small, select group of students who have shown a great interest in the arts. This seventh and eighth grade club attends performances throughout the community, as well as hosts in-house performances and speakers.
Handbell Choir- A gift of brand new handbells were given to St. Charles! With this beautiful new set, Mr. Samudio has created our Handbell Choir. The Handbell Choir preforms at various St. Charles events.
Mass Ensemble—Any student who has taken lessons, for at least a year on an instrument is invited to join our Mass Ensemble. These students provide the music for our weekly student Masses. Our ensemble includes piano, keyboard, drum set, electric guitars and several band instruments.
