Curriculum – St. Charles School offers a core curriculum of religion, reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies along with classes in physical education, music, and art. Christian values are integrated throughout the curriculum and students participate often in Mass and devotional activities. Spanish is taught to students in grades K-8. Students from St. Charles School go on to Catholic and public high schools very well prepared.

St. Charles School FAQs

Q: Does St. Charles School offer full-day or half-day kindergarten?

A: St. Charles School offers full-day kindergarten from 7:50 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.

Q: How many classes are there per grade?

A: There are Three homerooms per grade, from First to Sixth Grade. Seventh Grade  and Eighth have two homerooms. We have two preschool 3 year old and three preschool 4 year old classrooms and three Kindergarten Classrooms. We also offer one class of TK (Transitional Kindergarten, known in other schools as pre-kindergarten or early fives) from 8:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Q: Does St. Charles School have a preschool?

A: Yes! The Fall of 2012 was our first year offering preschool.

  • 3-day 3-year-old program Tuesday-Thursday 8 am-11 am
  • 4-day 4-year-old program Monday-Thursday 8 am-11 am
  • Extended Day Enrichment is available for preschool and TK students until 2:50 M- F.

Q: What school districts bus students to and from St. Charles School?

A: Two school districts bus to St. Charles School. Kettering (the public school district in which our school is located), and Centerville provide transportation to and from St. Charles School. Contact the school office for busing information.

Q: What is the length of your school day?

A: Doors open at 7:25 a.m., classes begin at 7:50 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:50 p.m.

Q: Do students go to Mass every week?

A: Yes. All-School Mass is on Monday mornings at 8:30 a.m. Each grade level prepares the liturgy on a rotating basis. We encourage families and friends to attend with us! The school Mass schedule is noted on the school calendar and in the church bulletin.

Q: What classes are offered at St. Charles School?

A: In addition to the traditional academic core curriculum, students attend classes for computer technology, music, art, library, physical education, and Spanish weekly.

Q: Does St. Charles offer an after-school program?

A: YES!  We started our aftercare program in 2022!  Our in-house program offers our parents the ability to pick up as late as 6 pm.

Q: What are your school colors and mascot?

A: Our school colors are blue and gold. Our mascot is a Charger!
