All people who intend to work or volunteer in any of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati parishes, schools, or institutions, must attend a VIRTUS® Child Awareness training session based on the Decree on Child Protection before you are approved to work with children.  Each Virtus Child Awareness training session will last 3 – 4 hours. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the sessions. As a parish, we are committed to following the decree fully.  For a copy of the decree, please follow the link: Click here for the Decree

All volunteers who have contact with children must be Virtus certified.  The requirements for certification are as follows:

  1. You must establish a Virtus account by registering at
  2. You need to attend a Virtus training class.  This is a classroom setting that encourages interaction.  Be sure and sign the attendance sheet when you arrive for the class.  Without your signature of attendance, you won’t get credit for attending.
  3. You must request an online background check by logging into your Virtus account and clicking on the hotlink for background checks located in the upper left corner of the toolbox tab.  There is a one-time cost of $25 for the background check, which the parish will pay.  You may charge this fee to a personal credit card and be reimbursed by sending your receipt to the parish business office or you may call the business office in advance for a prepaid token.
  4. Each month an informative bulletin on a child protection topic is published.  You are required to read these bulletins and take a 1 question quiz about the content to maintain an active status in the Virtus system.

For additional information on the Child Protection program please call Steve Morris in the business office at (937) 434-6081 x 223 or send him an email.

A special note for all coaches:
Rosters must be submitted to the parish office for Fr. Dan’s signature before sending them to the CYO office. The rosters must have a coach and an assistant coach listed.  Both coaches must meet the requirements under the Child Protection program. Furthermore, building access to the school building (including the PAC) is contingent on you maintaining “active” status in the Virtus system.
