This weekend, particularly Saturday, September 21, the world celebrates the International Day of Peace.

This is an excellent time to bring attention to our parish Peace Pole. On April 22, 2008, our parish installed and dedicated a Peace Pole at the far corner of our Plaza. It had been made by a student as a requirement for his Eagle Scout Award.

The four languages on the sides of the pole are English, Spanish, Hebrew and Swahili, and each say “May peace prevail on Earth.” The purpose of our Peace Pole is to remind all who see it to pray for peace.

One prayer you can say as you pass the Peace Pole is: “God of all things, help me to have peace within myself, that I may spread peace throughout Your universe.”
