March 6, 2019, we will have Mass at 6, 8:30, 10:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
We prepare for Lent through our traditional practices of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Fasting allows us to focus on our dependence on God, not the world. The Church asks us to fast and abstain as follows:
Abstinence — to refrain from eating meat. All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. Catholics 14 years and older are expected to observe abstinence.
Fasting — to limit food to a single full meal and two half meals. Catholics 18 years old until their 59th birthday are expected to observe fasting.
Ash Wednesday (March 6) and Good Friday (April 19) are day of abstinence AND fasting.
