This year's competition was virtual, but all of our writers came together to write as a team in the school library. After being given unique prompts, the writers used their creative minds to complete three- 40 minute spontaneously written short stories. Results from the competition will be released in a couple of weeks. We are so proud of our writers!

Donations for SICSA AND 4 PAWS FOR ABLIITY!

Hi, my name is Keefe Carter and I am an eighth-grader here at Saint. Charles. As an eighth-grader, I get to go through the sacrament of Confirmation. To prepare for this sacrament we have to do service projects so that we can become the hands and feet of Christ as we grow to be a part of the Church. One of my projects was setting up a donation drive here at school for the animal shelters SICSA and 4 Paws for Ability. SICSA is an animal shelter with a "no-kill" policy which means that even if they are full they won't put the animals down. Then 4 Paws for Ability is an animal shelter that adopts and trains dogs to help disabled children with service animals.

So what I am asking of you is to check out the brown box in the school lobby and leave a small donation. You may be thinking, "Oh, I don't have an animal so I can't help donate" but most of the things on the list are things you can simply find around the house. The list includes hand soap, copy paper, stamps, duct tape, rags, baby wipes, toilet paper, and many other things easy to acquire. All of these donations will be collected in two weeks, sanitized, and then sent to the shelters. Every little bit counts and you can make it worth it. I understand that in these pressing conditions it may be hard to donate but thank you for every little bit that you can.

Keefe Carter
