Donations for Pop Up Tents and Generators are greatly needed
for the success of Nativity Lights!

If you can lend any of these items for the event please email
On Dec 20th our campus will be transformed for a special drive-thru event! Take in the wonder of lights and live scenes as you travel the road to Bethlehem towards the long awaited Nativity! St Nick will be there with his candy canes and we'll have a scavenger hunt with lots of things for you to look for along the way....including a special project from our St Charles school classrooms!

We are so excited to be able to hold this event for our St. Charles family in a way that allows everyone to be safe...and warm! But this is a huge event that can not happen without the support of this community. We're hoping you, your family, or group of friends will consider helping in some way to help bring this event to life!

All the details can be found on the Nativity Lights webpage, including ways to get involved!

  • We need some families or groups to help take ownership of decorating a portion of the route....

  • We're going to need some extra hands to help set-up/tear down our town of Bethlehem and live scenes....

  • We need a group of support personnel willing to bundle up on the night of the event to help with event support and traffic flow (we'll bribe you with hot chocolate!)....

  • We need some willing middle and high school students to stand in as our live actors to make our scenes truly come alive.

And if you're not able to help in any of those ways, there are several items we're hoping our community can help supply us with for the night.

If you would consider supporting the event in some way, we would be so grateful! The sign-up genius links for the various roles are below but they are also on the event page with full details about the night and community involvement.

Thank you so much for your consideration and support in making this a wonderful event for our community! If you have any questions please contact Deme Crinion at dcrinion@stcharles-kettering.org or 937-401-0021. We can't wait to see you all on the 20th!!
Holiday Gathering Reminders!
As we begin to plan for winter holiday celebrations, the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays.html offers these tips:
  • Monitor community spread. Montgomery County COVID-19 DashBoard and State of Ohio Portal
  • The location of the gathering - Indoor gatherings pose more risk than outdoor gatherings.
  • The duration of the gathering.
  • The number of people who are gathering.
  • The location that your guests are traveling from Ohio Travel Advisory
  • The behaviors of those who are gathering (Gatherings that promote social distancing, masking, hand washing, cleaning procedures, ventilation for indoor events pose less risks).
  • Get your flu shot.
  • If you are exhibiting illness like symptoms, stay home.
  • Coping ahead - start planning and thinking about things now.
  • Assess all the risks for your family - If after assessing the risks, trips or gatherings are cancelled, you may need to confront your emotions.
  • Prepare for sudden changes. It is possible that even the best-made plans might go sideways at the last minute.
  • Manage family expectations.
  • Consider a change of plans or a new tradition/rituals.
If other family members do not understand:
  • Attempt a family conversation.
  • Suggest alternatives.
  • If need be, accept the inevitable (you may not be able to reach an agreement).
Hour of Code Success!
The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. All St. Charles Students participated or will participate this week in the Hour of Code! Thank you Mr. Bertke for leading this annual activity!
Volunteers needed to judge Science Fair!
Science Fair will be a virtual event this year, but I am still in need of judges. A science or engineering background is nice, but not a requirement. In accordance with the State Science Fair guidelines, students will be preparing a narrated Google Slide presentation for their project. I will make these files accessible to judges through a Google Drive. If all goes to plan, judging will be open the third and fourth weeks of January. I'm estimating each presentation to be around five minutes, and judges would likely be responsible for scoring eight presentations. I will provide a score sheet and a list of standardized questions. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email me at cbigelow@stcharleskettering.org
Advent Reconciliation Service
What better way to prepare for the coming of our Lord than readying our hearts in the Sacrament of Reconciliation? A Reconciliation Service will be held on Tuesday, December 15 at 7 p.m. in the Church. There will be time for communal prayer and reflection, and we will finish with individual reconciliation. If it has been a while and you need a refresher on the sacrament, check out our pamphlets in the Hospitality Room.
Consecration of the Holy Family for more information please click here.
Are you looking for a different way to prepare yourself spiritually this Advent for the coming joy of Christmas? Why not involve your entire family in developing a stronger familial spirituality. Our Knights of Columbus Council 14995 is sponsoring The Consecration to the Holy Family project that starts with the First Sunday of Advent on November 29, 2020 and culminates weekend masses on the Feast Day of the Holy Family December 26 and 27, 2020. We invite all St. Charles families to participate! Knights will pass out Consecration to the Holy Family prayer cards after masses on December 26 and 27.

FREE Lunches will continue till the end of the year!
(Students still have to pay for certain ala cart items)

St. Albert Nutrition Service is happy to pass along that the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is extending flexibilities to allow free meals to continue to be available to all children throughout the entire 2020-2021 school year. This unprecedented move is part of USDA’s unwavering commitment to ensuring all children across America have access to nutritious food as the nation recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to Free Breakfast and Lunch to all students, we have applied for and received a grant which helps provide funds to allow more fresh fruits and vegetables to students. Please help us encourage your students to take all the items available to them. If packing, students can grab a “Sidekick” bag containing a fruit, vegetable and milk free of charge!

We are still accepting Free and Reduced meal applications for a smooth transition for the 2021/2022 school year. Please visit our website for applications
