This Season a Flu Vaccine is More Important than Ever!

According to the CDC, getting a flu vaccine is more important than ever during 2020-2021 to protect yourself, your family and your community from flu. A flu vaccine this season can also help reduce the burden on our healthcare systems responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and save medical resources for care of COVID-19 patients.  If you or your child has not had the flu vaccine this season, St. Charles is urging you to do so as soon as possible. Please help the St. Charles School community stay safe, stay healthy and stay in school.

St. Charles will NOT be offering the flu vaccine to students; however, there are many places that you can go to get a flu vaccine:
  • Call your child's primary health care provider (always the best option).
  • Visit a Walgreens Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy, Minute Clinic, or Dayton Children's Pharmacy (main or south campus) for ages 7-21 years.
  • Book an appointment online at Dayton Children’s Kids Express in Springboro, West Chester or Mason (6 months to 21 years).
Travel Advisory

We realize some people may be traveling.
It is all of our responsibility to create a safe environment at St. Charles School. The state of Ohio updates its travel advisory every Wednesday.
Those students who travel to any of the states listed in the advisory will be
required to self quarantine for fourteen days before they are allowed in the school. This policy is for the safety of all teachers, staff, and students.

Is your child Interested in Boy or Girls Scouts?
See below for more information!
Girls in grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade who are interested in joining Girl Scouts should contact Kim Bigelow, kim.e.bigelow@gmail.com to learn more about Girl Scouting opportunities at St. Charles and in the Kettering area. With an emphasis on STEM education, the outdoors, life skills, and entrepreneurship, Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  It is not too late to form new St. Charles troops. It would be especially great to see a Kindergarten Daisy troop form. If you are interested in learning more about volunteering as a Girl Scout co-leader, reach out to Kim who can share her experiences (it is so much fun!) and get you started with the troop formation and leader training process (it is easy!)."

Soft Touch Car Wash Fundraiser Update

The first phase of the Soft Touch Car Wash fundraiser is complete. However, coupons will be
available throughout the year at the school office, the church office, or any K of C member. To
date, 55 St. Charles School families have purchased 179 coupons. A total of 274 coupons have
been purchased by the grade school families, K of C members, and the St. Charles Borromeo
parish community. A special “Thank You” for your support. The funds from this fundraiser
will be used to fund the $3,000 needed for the four Catholic high school scholarships that are
awarded at the eighth grade graduation.
Since these car wash coupons make excellent Christmas gifts and the winter months require us to
wash our vehicles more often, we will conduct the second phase of this fundraiser in December
2020 and January 2021.
We look forward to the continued success of the next phase of this fundraiser.
Thanks for supporting Catholic education.
New Staff Spotlights of the Week!
Hello, my name is Tiffany Best and I am your new librarian. I am very excited to be here this year. Our family switched schools a couple years ago and joined the St. Charles family. My husband and I have two children: Lily (6th) and Herbert (4th).

I have my Bachelors Degree in Music Education and have taught at all grade levels K-12 with general music and instrumental performing groups. A few years ago I acquired my Masters degree in Library and Information Science and I am excited to have the opportunity to put it to use. Teaching and learning go hand in hand and I have always enjoyed both. Library and information science is about being a life-long learner and instilling the love of learning in others and I look forward to sharing that with the students at St. Charles.
Hi!
