New and Used eyewear recycling program
Donation box will be located in the church gathering space.

Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato Si', called on mankind to care for Earth, our common home. Two years ago  St. Charles Borromeo earned recognition as a Laudato Si’ parish for its earth friendly programs and practices. Despite the challenges the parish has faced in 2020 the committment to care for the environment is on-going.  Beginning Oct. 4 through Oct 18 the parish will be collecting new and used eyewear for recycling and donating to people in need around the globe.

Our donations will be forewarded to VSP Eyes of Hope, a not-for-profit that refurbishes and distributes new and gently used eyewear worldwide. You can give the gift of sight to adults and childrenby donating prescription glasses, sunglasses or readers that you no longer use. This is  recycling at it's best and also is a great way to honor St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of the environment whose feast is celebrated in October.

Information about VSP Eyes of Hope and a donation box where eyewear can be deposited will be found at the display in the church gathering space starting Oct.4.
Donations may be made daily, 5:30 am to 10 pm through October 18.
Please no broken or damaged eyewear or cases.
Library News

Birthday Book Club (BBC)

We will be continuing the Birthday Book Club this year! For more information on what the Birthday Book Club is and how to join please see the google doc to the below.

Last Year’s BBC
Due to the stay at home circumstances at the end of the ‘19-’20 school year, there are some students who have still not received their chance to check out a new Birthday Book Club book. I will be in contact with those students/families in the next couple weeks to get those taken care of. (Mrs. Brown had new uncirculated books set aside specifically for this purpose.)

Book Checkout

Unfortunately, the library is currently closed to browsing, but you can still check out books. Students can use the online catalog to place holds and books will then be checked out and delivered to their homeroom teacher or can be picked up in the office if studying virtually. K-2 will still have a small selection of books brought to their classroom, however with your help to place holds they have access to the entire library. Please visit our virtual library for more information and the catalog link.
** Note: your library login is the same as it is for all your other school accounts tinyurl.com/stcharleslibrary
Lunch Account News!
You may still owe money from last year, so if you get a negative balance notice it is because prior balance was due before lunches became free.
Also, some items from the ala cart line still cost money. If your student purchases additional items that are not free, you will be charged.

Lunches are Free for the rest of the year!
Nothing needs to be completed or filled out.
Any student buying a lunch at St. Charles will be
free of charge, until the funding runs out!
Thank you to our amazing cafeteria!
