Mrs. Will’s Counselor Newsletter

Hello Parents and Students,

As we start this new journey of at-home learning for the next couple of weeks, I wanted to reach out and assure you that I was still available to assist students. Please see below and, as always, let me know if you have any questions.

Social Emotional Support
I created a Google Classroom and the code is: y22lpge.  I will add resources and activities for students to use for support. I’ll cover a range of topics such as coping skills for handling big emotions like anxiety, anger and grief; mindfulness activities and resources to support mental health, and character skills resources. These may be in the form of links to videos or other activities that can be printed at home. None of these are graded assignments, but are meant to replace the support that I would be offering if we were at St. Charles.

If I can assist you in finding other resources during this time, please don’t hesitate to let me know. Again, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if I can be of any assistance during this time.

Attached below  you will find resources focused on talking with your child about Coronavirus.

LIBRARY UPDATE

St. Charles School now has access to over 90 interactive books called Lightbox by Follett. These books are mostly for kindergarten through 5th grade. They are in Science, Social Studies, Spanish, and Language Arts. We have unlimited access until August, No username or password is needed! Just click on this link,
I also put this link on the homepage of Destiny, https://acld.follettdestiny.com/
Remember you can email me if your student needs help logging into Destiny.

Your teacher might assign a book from this collection or you can just browse the collection so you can learn some cool stuff. Interactive books mean you can read the text, the text can be read to you, you can make notes in the text, do activities, link to Google Maps, find keywords, and take quizzes. Check out the GLACIER book and watch the book page come alive as the glacier moves.

If you are looking for a pleasure reading book you can check out digital and audiobooks on https://acld.follettdestiny.com/ or the Destiny app. Look for books that say OPEN or CHECKOUT, those are the digital books. Looking for a book and you don’t see it? Email me and I will try to purchase it.

Happy Reading,

Mrs. Brown
