School Safety

Welcome to another wonderful school year. School safety is always a top priority for the staff and faculty of St. Charles. In an effort to maintain school security we have moved all of our preschool classrooms into one hallway. This will limit the amount of adult traffic throughout the school. Preschool parents are only permitted to be in the preschool hallway and are not permitted to walk any other child to their classrooms.

Grade school parents, K-8, are not permitted to walk their child to their classrooms.
We ask that if you only have grade school students that you drop them off at the Walsh Hall door and do not enter the main entrance of the school. Grade school parents will not be permitted beyond the school lobby in the morning and during school hours.

This is an effort to keep all students safe and minimize the opportunity for someone to enter the building without permission.

If you need to speak to a teacher please make an appointment with that teacher. The teacher will notify the office of the appointment and you will be given a visitor badge. The teacher will escort you to the appropriate space for your meeting.

We ask that all parents cooperate with this requirement to ensure safe school environment.
Picture Day for ALL students will be on Thursday, September 5th.

ST. CHARLES STEM CLUB!

Sign-Ups from STEM Club are open! STEM Club is an afterschool club for 1st - 3rd graders interested in science. This year we will be learning about SIMPLE MACHINES! Please return $20 per child and the sign-up form by Friday, September 6 if your child(ren) are interested in participating. Depending on the number of students and number of parent volunteers, we may do a lottery for membership this year. Also, please send in the parent volunteer form if you are able to help with STEM Club on Tuesdays, September 24 through October 29, from 3:00-4:00. If a parent is volunteering and has a kindergartner, their kindergartner can also participate! Also, we will have junior high babysitters available to help watch younger siblings. The more parents we have, the more students we can accept! Thank you!

Playground Use After School

The preschool and grade school playgrounds are a wonderful addition to St. Charles funded by the school PTO. They are places parents and children can meet, socialize, and play together. Students are not allowed to directly leave the school and go to the playground. All students must either walk directly home, get on their designated school bus or daycare, or meet their parents in the PAC after dismissal.

Once you pick up your child you are free to escort your child to utilize the playground areas. We expect all parents and students to use these areas responsibly and with respect for the equipment and others. We ask that parents supervise their children on the playgrounds from the playground areas and not from the comfort of their vehicles.

All students have been given guidance on the proper use of the playground equipment to ensure the safety of themselves and others as well as the longevity of the equipment.

Please be aware that there is much traffic after school in the back parking lot. Students should not move about the parking lot areas unattended.

Thank you for your cooperation and respectful use of our playground areas.
