Girls On the Run
Bake Sale Today!
GOTR participants will be doing their Community Impact Project in a couple of weeks. The Community Impact Project provides an opportunity for the girls to use the skills they have developed over the course of our season.
The team has decided to put on a Bake Sale and all proceeds will go to Team Henry.
The Bake Sale will be Monday, May 7, in the entrance to the PAC, after school (2:50).
We appreciate your support for GOTR.

Walk and Bike to School Day
Walk and Bike to school day was a huge success due to all the volunteers and student/parents that participated. We had over 100 walkers and bikers. A big thanks to Dayton Children's and Safe Kids, the Kettering Police Department, Mrs. Mueller, Mrs. Cochran, Mrs. Lush, Mrs. Mancz, Mrs. Dorsten, Mr. Bertke, Mrs. Will, Mrs. Bonanno, Mrs. Collins, Mr. Bogle, and Mr. Morris. 
 
Congratulations to our helmet winners: Violet Aranda, Jackson Redmond, Avery Williams, Micaela Borchers, Ben Brooks, Henry Farrell, Abigail Harkness, Rose Kramer, Jack Schwartz, Noah Armstrong, Collin Brockman, Audrey Lipp, Silas Mayse, Sam Pica, Kacie Walker, Nova Bowser, Lillianne Haught, Peter Litke, Makayla Owens, Michael Shope, Rebecca Cyhers, Phoebe Irwin, Addison Yannetta, Dominic Bonnell and Isabella Branquino. These students colored a bike safety poster and submitted it for a chance to win a free helmet compliments of Dayton Children's and Safe Kids.

All student Chromebooks must be returned to the school library by Friday, May 25, 2018. Students should return their Chromebook, charger, carrying case and shoulder strap. All items should be clean. Students will be charged for any missing or broken items.

As part of the National History Bee Regional finals students can take a qualifying exam for both the US Geography Olympiad and International Geography Bee National Championships. 4 of our students qualified for these national competitions.

Michael finished 2nd in the state of Ohio, 14th nationally among 8th graders and 28th nationally among all students who took the test grades 4-8. 
Last Box Top Turn in day for the year is May 10th!
Please place your cut box tops in a bag, with homeroom name on it and turn into the main office or the basket in the lobby.

REGISTER FOR CYO GOLF!
All students entering 5th through 8th grade can sign up.  Students entering 4th grade are allowed to sign up to complete a team.  All students must be active players with knowledge of golf rules, proper etiquette,and must provide their own equipment, and be able to maintain the pace of play.
There is a $80 registration fee for golf, which includes a shirt.  

Coaches and Assistant Coaches are always welcome, please indicate if you would like to be one while registering!

All students  entering 4 th through 8 th grade can sign up. Any player in those grades that attend CCD or are in St. Francis parish are eligible to play as long as they are not playing for the school they attend. Please pass the word on to anyone that comes to mind.

Parents – Coaches and Assistant coaches are always welcomed and usually needed. Please indicate on the registration form whether you would be willing to help coach.
Don’t worry if your child is just learning the game. CYO’s mission is to provide the Catholic Youth of the Greater Dayton Area an opportunity to participate on athletic teams under Christian leadership and supervision. The CYO leagues are not just for the best players, but also for all skill levels.
The St. Charles mission for sports is to emphasize fun, skill development, sportsmanship, and then striving to win. Come and join us!!!

LIBRARY UPDATE

All library books  are due  Friday, May 18, 2018 . If a book is not returned it is considered lost and you will be charged for the replacement of the book.


PARISH PICNIC!
Our 2018 Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 16th at Polen Farms from 12:00 - 3:30 pm. Save the date for great food and family fun! The picnic organizing committee is now forming. We are seeking volunteers to help organize teams for games, activities, entertainment, and logistics. Our first meeting will be held in early June. Don't miss the boat! "Shipwrecked" - our Bible Camp theme for 2018 - is coming! Stop by the Hospitality Room after Masses this weekend to fill out applications for campers and staff alike. Don't forget:  Bible Camp is a great way for grades 7-12 to earn service hours! 

This year’s theme, “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus”, runs June 18-22, 9:00 a.m. – Noon, in the PAC.  Each morning is filled with Bible stories and activities, music, arts & crafts, games and more!  The whole family is invited to sign up as campers or staff members.  
Registration forms are available in the School Lobby and outside the Faith Formation Office.

Pavers Available for Prayer Garden:
St. Charles is once again offering the opportunity to purchase engraved pavers to commemorate a special person or event. These are perfect for occasions such as an anniversary, graduation, wedding, baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, birth or to remember a loved one.
Order forms can be picked up in the Church Hospitality Room or Office, or printed off the church website.  Deadline for all orders is May 25, 2018 .

WHAT TO PREPARE:  Prepare a short monologue (can be dramatic or comedic) OR prepare the chosen cut from the play- you can pick up this audition cut in Room 404 (neither have to be memorized, but are encouraged)
WHERE:  SIGN-UPS AND AUDITION FORMS are located in Room 404 (make sure you bring your completed form to the day of your audition)

WHAT IS THE SHOW ABOUT?
Truvy Jones runs a successful beauty salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana, where all the ladies in the neighborhood have a standing Saturday appointment. Along with her anxious and eager assistant, Annelle, Truvy styles the hair of many of the women about town: wealthy widow and former first lady of Chinquapin, Clairee, local curmudgeon Ouiser, intelligent and compassionate career woman M’Lynn, and her daughter Shelby, the prettiest girl in town. Shelby’s engagement is the talk of the town, but the joy and excitement of her wedding quickly turns to concern as she faces a risky pregnancy and a myriad of health complications. Eventually, when Shelby dies from complications related to her diabetes, M’Lynn has to deal with the most difficult of life’s challenges: the loss of one’s only child. As the women of Chinquapin make their ways over life’s many hurdles together, they find comfort in one another.
