This year’s theme, “Shipwrecked: Rescued by Jesus”, runs June 18-22, 9:00 a.m. – Noon, in the PAC.  Each morning is filled with Bible stories and activities, music, arts & crafts, games and more!  The whole family is invited to sign up as campers or staff members.

Pavers Available for Prayer Garden:   
St. Charles is once again offering the opportunity to purchase engraved pavers to commemorate a special person or event. These are perfect for occasions such as an anniversary, graduation, wedding, baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, birth or to remember a loved one.
Order forms can be picked up in the Church Hospitality Room or Office, or printed off the church website.  Deadline for all orders is May 25, 2018 .

  2018 Summer Bible Study

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF THE BIBLE provides a clear, easy, and accessible way to understand Scripture. This study is suitable for both beginners and for those who are experienced at Bible study, because it simplifies the complexity of the Bible through an easy-to-follow narrative approach, and a color-coded  Bible Timeline It is a great way for you to get the “big picture” of Salvation History, and to see how the Bible reveals God’s loving plan for your life.

We will begin  UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF THE BIBLE on Tuesday evenings beginning May 8th, and running through the last week of July.   Our facilitator will be Michael Shouse.  Class Fee:  $25.00. Registration Forms are available in the Church Office, or the Hospitality Room. Registration deadline is April 30 th .  Or, call 434-9272 
Bring in a $1 donation and get an out of uniform day on Friday, March 27th. All proceeds go to our Theater Department!
Lion King News
Tickets  are now on sale! Adults are $6 in advance / $7 at the door. Students (TK-8) are $4 in Advance / $5 at the door. This will be a truly fantastic show; you won't want to miss it! Submit your ticket order form with payment to the school office ASAP!

Cast Cues will be printed in the programs this year! Encourage cast members with a special message, like "Susie, break a leg! We are so proud of you! Love, Mom, Dad, and Timmy." Students can send messages to their friends, too! Cast Cues are $5 each; submit yours on the ticket order form by April 20 .

We still have a few reserved seats left in the first 3 rows for the Thursday and Friday shows. They are $10 each. Email Joan Cosas at littlemizc@gmail.com for guaranteed great seats! (General Admission ticket orders and Cast Cues must be submitted via the order form.)

Why buy flowers from the grocery store when you can get them at the LION KING?
Support St. Charles Arts by purchasing a bouquet of keepsake wooden roses for your performer! Individual roses will be sold for $2 each, premade bouquets with 6 roses for $5 or 12 roses for $10.


LION KING CONTESTS!
Raffle Tickets are $1.00 each or 6 tickets for $5.00. The items are on display in the music room. Which ever room buys the most tickets gets a popcorn party. The raffle begins Wednesday of this week and continues through the last day of Arts Week!
 
Door Decorating Contest!
Which ever homeroom decorates their door best with a Lion King or African theme will win free tickets to the show for their entire class. Doors will be judged the Friday, April 20th after school. 

Save the Date for Walk and Bike to School - Wednesday, May 2nd
St. Charles will be hosting a Walk and Bike to school day on Wednesday, May 2nd.  This will be a community event with Dayton Children's Hospital and the Kettering Police Department.  
If you live close enough, please ENCOURAGE your child to walk or bike to school on WED, MAY 2nd. ​If you live further from the school, we are asking that you pack up your child's bike and meet at Marinole Pool (corner of Ackerman and Judith). If your child does not have bike or would rather walk you can still drop your child off at Marinole and they can walk to school from there.  
We will have a staff member at Marinole from 7:20-7:40 organizing students who will be walking or biking.

6th Grade Parents - Vaccine Requirements
The Ohio Department of Health requires that all students entering 7 th  grade have the following immunizations:
  • Tdap (must be Tdap, it cannot be Td) vaccine 
  • Meningococcal -  Students are required to have 1 dose anytime before entering 7th grade
​Forms will go home this ​week. Your child's health care provider can complete this form OR you can simply send in a copy of your child's vaccine record.   We are asking that vaccines be on file with the school no later than 5/25/2018.

Grades 6-8 - ​Scoliosis Results​
Scoliosis screenings were completed on Wednesday 4/11/2018. We will mail referrals/notices to your home address. All other results will be included with your child's 4th quarter grade cards.Thank you to Molly DePoorter, RN and Dayton Children's for helping us screen over 110 students.

REGISTER FOR CYO GOLF!
All students entering 5th through 8th grade can sign up.  Students entering 4th grade are allowed to sign up to complete a team.  All students must be active players with knowledge of golf rules, proper etiquette,and must provide their own equipment, and be able to maintain the pace of play.
There is a $80 registration fee for golf, which includes a shirt.  

Coaches and Assistant Coaches are always welcome, please indicate if you would like to be one while registering!

All students  entering 4 th through 8 th grade can sign up. Any player in those grades that attend CCD or are in St. Francis parish are eligible to play as long as they are not playing for the school they attend. Please pass the word on to anyone that comes to mind.

Make sure to enter the grade your child will be in next school year!
Parents – Coaches and Assistant coaches are always welcomed and usually needed. Please indicate on the registration form whether you would be willing to help coach.
Don’t worry if your child is just learning the game. CYO’s mission is to provide the Catholic Youth of the Greater Dayton Area an opportunity to participate on athletic teams under Christian leadership and supervision. The CYO leagues are not just for the best players, but also for all skill levels.
The St. Charles mission for sports is to emphasize fun, skill development, sportsmanship, and then striving to win. Come and join us!!!

Alter High School cheerleading tryouts will be held next week (April 16-19) from Monday-Thursday 4:00-6:00 at Alter’s Auxiliary Gym. This is for anyone interested in cheering for ANY of these seasons: football, soccer and basketball for next school year. There may also be an opportunity to start a competition cheer squad for next school year. An information meeting will be held this upcoming Sunday, April 15, for parents and students from 5:00-6:30 in Alter’s cafeteria to go over details for next week's tryouts.

South Dayton Knights Football will be having an informational meeting for those interested in playing football for the 2018 season. 
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 24 th  at 7PM in the Alter High School Cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, learn more about the philosophy of the program, and discuss safety / Heads Up Football. SDK Football is for 3 rd  – 8 th  grade. To participate in grades 3 rd  – 6 th  grade, you must attend a Catholic feeder school. There are no restrictions for 7 th  – 8 th  grade.
