Our school is participating in a very special community service program to raise funds for heart disease and stroke. We are also working on increasing our students’ awareness about the health of their own hearts. The week of March 5 th grades K- 5 th will participate in our Jump for Heart event.
This program helps students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also teaches children the value of giving back to those in need. Heart disease affects many families in our community, so your support means a lot!

Please consider donating to this service project all packets are due by March 15th.. Together, we can make a BIG IMPACT!

2018 St. Charles Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts “Scouting for Food” service event on Thursday March 15, supporting
St Charles’ Almsgiving charity - HOMEFULL
This year, our St Charles scouts in Pack and Troop 813 will be collecting household cleaning products and non-perishable food items for Homefull which is one of our parish’s Lenten Almsgiving charities.
On Thursday, March 15, ANY STUDENT who brings in a donation of a cleaning product or food item will be allowed to out of uniform day!

Homefull’s Homelessness Prevention program helps low-income households who are at risk of becoming homeless, by providing short-term financial assistance and longer-term case management. As an incentive for our Prevention clients to continue meeting with a case manager to help them remain stably housed, we want to periodically offer each household a “FoodPak” with nonperishable food and household items to help them stretch their budget.
Their most urgent needs are the household cleaning supplies listed below. If you have a reusable bag/tote to donate along with your cleaning or food item, they have a big need for those also.
The items don’t have to be exactly the same, but all food items do need to be nonperishable. We want to provide items that are convenient and, in the case of food items, reasonably nutritious. We hope that you will join us in this new project to help our neighbors escape the cycle of homelessness.
Sample “FoodPak” and “Starter Kit” Contents
Household Cleaning Items: All-purpose cleaner Tall kitchen trash bags, Bar soap,Dish soap, Laundry detergent, Sponges, 4-pack of toilet paper, Paper towels and Lysol wipes.

St. Charles Lenten Almsgiving Project
St. Charles School has incorporated the Beatitudes into our curriculum and Faith Family activities this school year. The Beatitudes call us to live a life of Christ's presence through outwards signs of being peacemakers, bringing reconciliation, seeking opportunities for mercy and compassion, and pursuing justice and righteousness. We strive to live each Beatitude one action at a time and one day at a time.

As Lent approaches the school staff and students are preparing for our Lenten Almsgiving project.  St. Charles school students in coordination with the parish will be collecting item necessities for two local charities,  Brigid's Path  and  Homefull  during the Lenten season. We ask that all donations are provided prior to March 23, 2018. Each classroom will have receptacles for donations and will deliver them to church each Tuesday for collection by the Social Action Committee.

Brigid's Path  is the first facility in Ohio, and just the second in the country, to specialize in providing care for drug exposed newborns. They welcome newborns.from area hospitals who are medically stable but still need to go through a painful withdrawal process..Brigid's Path provides a quiet, comforting environment with one-on-one medical staff and many supporting volunteers. They also provide non-judgemental support for mothers and education services to improve family outcomes. St. Charles will be collecting items needed for the babies and general supplies for the facility.

Homefull  in Dayton got its start many years ago as a temporary homeless shelter for about 20 people. They now help more than 600 people daily. More than just a shelter, they offer a comprehensive list of services designed to help people find and keep jobs and homes. Clients moving out of the shelter system typically have very few possessions, and definitely don't have all the items they need to make a fresh start in a new home. St. Charles will be collecting the items they need for their new start in life.

We greatly appreciate your assistance in helping our students understand Lenten Almsgiving and living a life through the Beatitudes.
