The St. Charles Respect Life Committee strives to help parishioners grow in their knowledge and understanding of Catholic Church teaching on all life issues, from conception to natural death. We promote ongoing education by passing along informational materials from the USCCB and promoting local presentations on life issues. We also strive to help the parish be an active presence and support local and national pro-life organizations by promoting fundraising events, collections to stock local baby pantries, and more.
We care deeply about cultural issues that are a threat to God’s plan for life and family, including contraception, abortion, reproductive technology, euthanasia, and capital punishment. Because abortion is legal in all nine months in our country, and there are more than one million innocent lives ended each year, more than 3,000 per day in the U.S. alone, we consider this an area of crisis and will focus much of our efforts of prayer, education, and fighting for just legislation in regard to abortion. Also, we are the closest Catholic parish to the abortion clinic located in our neighborhood, so participation in peaceful prayer efforts at the clinic is a natural area of focus.
