Download the St. Charles App!

We are excited to announce our St. Charles Borromeo School App. Our app is intended as a communication and collaboration tool for our families and staff. By downloading and registering for the App, you will have access to the most current news and information about our school/classrooms and find resources for your spiritual growth. We will also be using our App to automate school form processes so that you can complete and submit them quickly and easily from your mobile devices or personal computers.

Our St. Charles School app is free but unlike other free mobile apps, there are no advertisements and your account data will not be sold or made available to anyone outside of our school staff. Our app will not increase your digital footprint.
Below are links that will take you to our app at the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, and a link for using our app from a Windows PC. Starting to use our app is a simple 3 step process.
1. Download the App.
2. Complete Registration information for our App.
3. Fill out your profile and choose the homeroom groups related to your student(s).

Once you have downloaded our app, register for the app by tapping on the Create New Account text on the login page of the app. You will be sent a confirmation email to confirm your registration. Tap on the Activate Account Button on the e-mail you receive and enter the password that you wish to use for the app.
You will then be automatically logged into the app. Once inside the app, Tap on the Menu icon in the upper left corner and select Profile Settings. Complete your profile information including adding a picture of yourself if you wish, then tap on the Join Groups Text and select the Homeroom Teacher Class Groups that your student/s are in. Note that if you are the parent from your family that is responsible for completing needed forms (such as school field trip permission forms), choose Admin Parent Group for your student(s) homeroom(s). If you are a parent or other family member that wishes to stay informed but is not responsible for filling out needed forms, then join the Other Family Group for your student(s) homeroom(s).

Severe Weather Policy

In the event of inclement weather, the general rule is that when Kettering Schools close or delay, St. Charles School will close or delay also. This is the policy for weather conditions only, not for holidays or specific teacher meetings or school calendar differences.

Announcements concerning emergency closings will be made on the radio and TV beginning at about 6:00 a.m. Any other emergency that may affect the school day will be announced on the radio and TV. The St. Charles School name will appear individually.

If Kettering is open on a normal schedule AND your district of residence is on a delay, St. Charles School will be open on a normal schedule. Students arriving late because of the district’s decision to delay transportation will not be counted tardy.

On days in which St. Charles School is on a delay there will be no morning Preschool or Transitional Kindergarten. Daycare for preschool students will begin at 9:40.

Attention St. Charles Alumni

St. Charles School is looking for 8th grade class photos from 1964 to 1981. If you have a copy of any of these class photos, please contact Maggie Collins at 434-4933. We are in the process of hanging all graduation class photos outside of our school library. Thank you for your help!

Are your children sharing their time, talent and treasure?

Children’s Offering Envelopes are available in the Hospitality Room. The envelopes encourage the children to write down on the envelope how they shared their time and talents with others during the past week. They may also contribute any amount of money they wish to share. The important message to children is: How are you sharing your time and talents with others in the parish? The envelopes feature a Saint of the week.

VIRTUS Training & Registration

New Child Protection Program:

New Child Protection Program:
All people who intend to work or volunteer in any of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati parishes, schools, or institutions, must attend a VIRTUS® Child Awareness Session for the Decree on Child Protection before you are approved to work with children.
Effective June 18, 2012, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati has substantially changed the way it conducts training for its Decree on Child Protection. All training sessions on the Decree will now be known as VIRTUS® Child Awareness Sessions. Each Child Awareness Session will last 3 – 4 hours. No one under the age of 18 will be allowed in the sessions.

The Decree on Child Protection has been updated beginning July 1, 2013.
This update immediately impacts all of us who work and volunteer with children.
The Decree must be followed fully!
Here is a link to the Decree in PDF format:

Please sign the acknowledgement and return to Kristen Ricker as soon as possible. Again, she must have the signed acknowledgement in order for you to work/volunteer with children here at St. Charles Borromeo.
Click here for the Acknowledgement Form

A special note for all coaches:
Rosters must be turned in to the parish office for Fr. Dan’s signature a week in advance!
This is due to the requirement for us to check all the names included in the paperwork, and have Fr. Dan sign after the names have been verified.

NOTE: Those who have been through the “previous” Child Protection Classes (and it is verified via our audit report), do not need to attend the new Virtus training yet. All who have been trained under the previous system are “grandfathered in” but the new training must be completed by June 30th of 2014. More information will follow…

Per Archdiocesan mandate, no late arrivals will be admitted. No children under the age of 18 years and not yet graduated from high school will be admitted. You must be present for the entire session or you will be asked to attend another training session. A minimum of 8 attendees required for this session to occur.

Those new volunteers who need training must attend the new Virtus training.

Upcoming date for VIRTUS Training near St. Charles:
