Principal’s Corner

A Note from Principal Bogle:

The school staff is busy planning for another school year. The school will continue a study and implementation of The Beatitudes. Throughout the year, students and faculty will study and reflect upon them and Faith Family activities and service projects will be related to the Beatitudes and how we are called to serve one another.

This year, we welcome four new staff members to the school. Mrs. Nicole Larkin will be our new preschool aide assisting in our three-year-old program. Mrs. Katy Bundy joins us from Immaculate Conception School and will be teaching fifth grade language arts and science. Mrs. Emily Ann Issenmann is our new junior high language arts teacher and joins us from Immaculate Conception School as well. Mrs. Meredith Conner will join our junior high department as our science teacher for the coming school year. We welcome all of our new staff members.

The second James Paxson Memorial scholarship was awarded at the end of the year awards assembly. Members of the Paxson family presented the full St. Charles tuition scholarship award to seventh grade student Regan Schrimpf. The first James Paxson Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing and Dinner will be held at Walnut Grove Country Club on September 6, 2016. Please save the date on your calendar and look for additional communications on this special event.

Saint Charles School welcomes eighty-three new families and 102 new students in the preschool and school. This school year 404 students are enrolled, plus 71 in the preschool. We welcome all of the students back for a wonderful school year and especially our new families who have joined us from other Catholic and public schools in the local area as well as from our of state.

We are called as a parish and school community to evangelize Christ’s teachings through our stewardship of time, talent and treasure in support of a successful Catholic school. The kindness and charity in the ST. Charles community is always visible in the school. Through a private donation we are able to purchase an additional thirty Chromebooks for our students as we continue to integrate technology into the curriculum. A new electronic sign was installed in front of school through the wonderful donation of a private donor and the Bob Bonanno Memorial Fund. The new school sign will assist in communication to parishioners and families of parish and school events.

St. Charles is also in the initial stages of implementing a preschool playground. The playground installation consists of two stages. The first stage to include play equipment and a safe surface will be installed in the fall. A second stage to include additional equipment and a trike track will occur in the spring or fall of next year. Grants, private donations and fundraising efforts by the PTO have enabled us to create this wonderful learning space for our preschool students.

We continue to thank the dedicated parishioners who make St. Charles a truly blessed place. The school community could not exist without the dedication of those who volunteer time, treasure and talent toward the athletic, scouting, Squires and enrichment opportunities that exist here. Please listen to the calling of these organizations and inquire how you can be of assistance to others in our school community at our annual Open House on August 14 between 1-3 p.m. Parishioners are encouraged to contact the school or parish office for more details and ways they can contribute to the School Tuition Assistance Fund, Preschool Playground Fund, Bob Bonanno Memorial Fund or the Paxson Scholarship Fund.

We are the everyday examples of our school motto “Together We Believe, Together We Achieve” as we come together as a parish community to provide an excellent Catholic education for our children. Please keep all of the faculty and students in your prayer as we begin a new school year.

God bless,

David Bogle
