School Commission Meeting Minutes
June 7, 2011
Attendance:
Father Haemmerle, Mrs. Fran Moore, Dave Bogle, Beth Hart, John White, Mike Carter, Carrie McHenry, Erin Stolly, Sue Klosterman, Mary Burrows, John Gochenaur, Michelle Popp, Jenifer Davis, Tim Azbill, Jonathon Albrecht, Chris Sharbaugh, Beth Lantz
I. Opening Prayer:
John White opened the meeting at 6:15pm in the teachers’ lounge and Beth Lantz led the opening prayer.
II. Approval of Minutes:
The May 2011 minutes were approved. Mike Carter motioned, Beth Hart seconded.
III. New Principal/Commissioner Introductions:
St. Charles’ new Principal, Mr. David Bogle, introduced himself to the School Commission members and gave a brief history of his work experience. He is a St. Charles and Alter High School graduate and said he is very happy to be back at St. Charles. The new and current Commission members were also introduced.
IV. Pastor’s Report:
Father Haemmerle reported:
Teachers’ Contracts: Father Haemmerle met individually with the teachers today to sign contracts.
Farewell Party: Father was very pleased with the nice farewell party for Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Burrows and Miss Ellerbrock. He thanked Maggie Collins for organizing it.
V. Principal’s Report:
Mrs. Moore reported:
Surprise Dismissal: Mrs. Moore has always wanted to surprise her students with a day off and she did that by making Wednesday June 8th the final day of the school year. She said she received many happy thank you’s from the students and teachers!
Last Day: Mrs. Moore’s last day will be June 30th. Mr. Bogle and Mrs. Moore will have several meetings between now and the end of the month in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Thanking School Commission: Mrs. Moore expressed her thanks to the School Commission members for their service over the years.
VI. Old Business:
a. Traffic Update:
The new dismissal routine has solved the problem of congestion in the back parking lot. Mrs. Moore recommended still having the Kettering Police review the traffic flow. The “Stop Here” sign by Walsh Hall is also making morning drop off much more efficient.
VII. New Business
a. Tardiness Policy: The School Commission voted to approve the new tardiness policy which will be included in the Student Handbook next school year.

c. Charger Support Committee: Carrie McHenry
Some parents have voiced concern about the $100 Family Fee. A letter explaining why the fee is needed was sent out. It was discussed that a budget needs to be published.
d. Athletic Commission: Michelle Popp
There were enough students signed up to make 2 boys’ golf teams. There will be one girls’ golf team.
e. Parish Council: Beth Hart
Chris Rauch is working hard to finalize the budget.
f. Finance Committee: John White:
The Finance Committee will meet on June 20th to approve budget.
g. Technology: Michelle Popp/Mike Carter

h. Scouting: John Gochenaur/Mike Carter
John received a lot of good feedback on the Troop 813 Court of Honor held May 31st. 30 Merit Badges were awarded. 18 Scouts went to West Point for a large jamboree. There are 10 new Cub Scouts signed up. The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts placed flags on every grave at the Veteran Cemetery for Memorial Day.
i. Playground: There will be an inventory taken of the playground equipment that has been delivered. Volunteers will work in 4 hour shifts to install the tiles.

John White presented Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Burrows with thank you gifts from the School Commission.
